How To Resin Flowers
-
Assemble your flower petals and dry them, either by pressing them in a book, embedding them in silica gel or by using a microwave flower press.
💡TIP: Ensure flowers are completely dried before you resin them. Remaining moisture will cause them to release bubbles and eventually decompose once covered in resin.
- Create your design by mounting the dried petals to the substrate. Either pencil out your design or take a freehand approach. Coat the substrate with a slow-drying adhesive like ModPodge. Using tweezers, carefully apply the petals, one by one. Allow the adhesive time to dry according to the label instructions.
- Seal your floral art with a clear drying spray sealant or a brush on sealant. If using a brush-on sealant, thin it out with a little water first to make it easier to apply. Allow the sealant to dry according to the label directions.
- Wearing gloves, measure and mix the ArtResin according to instructions.
💡TIP: If you're not sure how much ArtResin you need, enter the dimensions of your piece into our Resin Calculator.
- Pour the resin into the center of the artwork and, using a flat-edged spreading tool, gently guide the resin over the entire surface.
-
Use an Artist’s Torch to remove bubbles.
- Cover and allow the resin to cure. After 24 hours, the resin will be dry to the touch and will be fully cured after 72 hours.
