@jennasuehome Is Our Instagram Winner!

Congratulations to artist Jenna Pitmon, our latest Instagram winner! Jenna is a resin artist based in Corpus Christi, TX, who creates bright, happy, and colorful art and home décor:  "I paint to make me happy, and I allow each piece to transform into what it was meant to be. I never stick to a plan and find each piece turns out better than if I had it planned out step by step or color by color. I let the colors blend and flow into their own creation."

Does where you're from or where you currently live influence your work?

Yes, I live near the beach. Which helps me get inspiration from time to time.

What's your art background?  Are you self-taught or did you study art?

Self-taught!  I’ve been painting about 12 years ago, I started refurbishing old furniture and have evolved into mainly acrylic, alcohol inks and resin artwork.

Are you a full-time artist or do you create around work hours?

I work full time from home.  Art is my side passion and helps me stay balanced. I typically paint on the weekends.

What do you love about the mediums that you use in your work?

I particularly love ArtResin because it’s the perfect consistency when combining with acrylics.

How did you discover resin?

I started following different artists on Instagram and loved the high-end results resin.

How has resin impacted your artwork?

I love the extra shine resin give my artwork. And being able to create bowls or other 3-D items is so fun!

Can you provide a brief rundown of your process?

I usually turn the music up, open the doors and start creating. I must be in the right head space to create. I don’t just paint to paint. I paint to make me happy, and I allow each piece to transform into what it was meant to be. I never stick to a plan and find each piece turns out better than if I had it planned out step by step or color by color. I let the colors blend and flow into their own creation.

Why do you want to make art? What motivates you to create?

I paint for me; it helps me stay at peace and makes me feel closer to God. It’s become who I am and always keeps my life in balance. I am constantly looking for inspiration and art keeps me focused on what’s important in life.  To slow down and appreciate the beautiful and simple things in this world.

Does art help you in other areas of your life?

Yes, art makes me feel fulfilled and helps me handle the stresses of life.

What do you hope someone sees or feels when they look at your art?

I hope my art makes other people feel happy as it does for me.

How do you define success as an artist? What does that look and feel like for you?

For me, success is following your heart with every piece. And creating pieces that I love, not what others think you should do.

What's your favorite resin tip you'd like to share with our readers?

Just go with it, don’t get upset if your plan with resin doesn’t go well. There will be a lot of trials and errors, but you shouldn’t let that stop you from trying again.

Where do you sell your work?

I have a shop on Etsy called Jenna Sue Home. I also sell at a local boutique called, Bub & Beck by Madison Taylor.
