Congratulations to Kathyrn Beals ... our lucky winner for October!
Kathryn is a self-taught artist specializing in acrylics. Though she now lives in California as a full-time artist, her beautiful work is a nod to her British Columbia roots, as well as the landscape of the remote Canadian north where she lived during her career in forestry.
After experimenting with acrylic paint pours, Kathryn transitioned from traditional landscape painting to fluid landscapes, finding that fluid art's organic colour and movement evoked images of night skies, the Northern Lights, sunsets and lake reflections to her mind's eye.
Always staying connected to her forestry background and to the outdoors, Kathyrn uses her art to raise funding for non-profits that support conservation efforts. Her current benefit series is for Save the Waves, a California not for profit focused on preserving ocean coastlines.
Kathryn often embellishes her fluid landscapes with acrylic paint marker work, glitter, and metal leaf before covering the whole piece in a coat of ArtResin.
