@sweetysharma_art_resin Is Our Instagram Winner!

Congratulations to artist Sweety Sharma, our latest Instagram winner! Based in San Jose, CA, Sweety is a resin artist specializing in personalized and customized charcuterie boards, coasters, trays, and resin paintings: "I create resin artwork on a variety of surfaces, including boards, wooden panels, and canvases. Each piece is meticulously crafted to showcase the unique beauty and versatility of resin as a medium."

Does where you're from or where you currently live influence your work?

Yes, both where I'm from and where I currently live greatly influence my work, as the local culture, environment, and community inspire my designs and creative process.

What's your art background?  Are you self-taught or did you study art?

Sketching and painting have been my hobbies since I was a little girl. I am a self-taught artist and have never attended any art classes.

Are you a full-time artist or do you create art around work hours?

I am a full-time artist, dedicating all my time and energy to my craft and creative projects.

What do you love about the mediums that you use in your work?

I love how mica powders, acrylic paints, and alcohol inks blend beautifully with art resin. The combination creates a smooth finish without any lumps or bubbles, enhancing the overall quality and appearance of the artwork.

When did you discover resin?

I discovered resin in 2019, when it wasn't as popular as it is today. I taught myself extensively by reading online resources and experimenting with various resins, epoxies, colors, and pigments.

How has resin impacted your artwork?

Resin has significantly impacted my art and creativity. I love how it inspires endless ideas and allows me to create unique pieces each time, all with a glass-like finish. I started my small business in October 2022, and it has been growing steadily, thanks to the uniqueness, elegance, and class of my work.

Can you provide a brief rundown of your process?

I am a happy go lucky person who believes in always preparing myself before creating any artwork - it greatly reflects in my work. My process includes cleaning the art surface, applying tape, mixing resin with mica powder or alcohol ink, pouring, applying heat, letting it cure, repeating the process & sealing it with one last layer of plain resin.

Why do you want to make art? What motivates you to create?

Creating art is my passion. It often serves as the voice of my soul, enabling me to express myself without limits and explore endless opportunities and personal freedom. For me, art is a medium of communication and inspiration.

Does art help you in other areas of your life?

Art helps me in every aspects of life. It helps me in connecting with people, expressing myself, it soothes my mind & makes me calmer with my kids & family. Overall it makes me happy.

What do you hope someone sees or feels when they look at your art?

They should feel the uniqueness, dedication, and precision of my artwork. Additionally, they should be able to admire my work with a big, happy smile.

How do you define success as an artist? What does that look and feel like for you?

As an artist, I have received immense appreciation and love for my work. This support keeps me motivated and inspires me to continue doing what I love.

Where do you sell your work?

Right now I am getting orders from word of mouth from the community & town I live in. I am excited to announce that I will soon be launching my Etsy shop.
