In 2025, we’re celebrating a big milestone—ArtResin’s 10-year anniversary!
ArtResin was born from a simple but frustrating problem: finding a safe, easy-to-use resin for artwork. What began as an idea has grown into a global brand trusted by artists around the world. Here’s how ArtResin evolved from its beginnings to where we are today—and where we’re headed next!
The Early Days: How It All Started
In the early 2010s, Canadian artists and husband-and-wife duo, Dave and Rebecca Zak, loved the modern, sleek look that resin gave their art, but they didn’t love the resin. Their only options at that time were harsh industrial formulas that gave them headaches and ruined their work. They knew there was so much potential for a water-clear resin, designed specifically for art, that was safe enough to use at home, easy to work with, and long-lasting.
After sampling resins from around the world, only to feel disappointed time and again, they decided to create their own.

The Breakthrough: A Formula Made For Artists, By Artists.
To bring their vision to life, Dave and Rebecca partnered with Texas-based epoxy resin manufacturers Ali Mutlu and Whitney Wheaton. Combining their artistic insight with Ali and Whitney’s technical know-how, they got to work sourcing ingredients and testing formulas.
The partners refused to compromise on safety or use cheap fillers and solvents known to cause health issues. The result was a resin like no other—non-toxic, free from VOCs, low-odor, food-safe, crystal-clear and with an easy 1:1 mixing ratio.
Once they felt the ArtResin formula was perfect enough to use themselves, it was third-party tested for safety so they could confidently share it with other artists.
In March 2015, ArtResin hit the market as a safe alternative to traditional epoxy resins. It was the first of its kind, paving the way for resin artists across the world.
